2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia
2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Review
The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact luxury car that can seat up to five people. It’s meant for drivers who want a small luxury car that has a high level of performance and a stylish design. With an available twin-turbo Ferrari-derived V6 engine that makes 505 horsepower, an agile chassis, high-performance brakes and a sport suspension, the Giulia delivers stellar performance, on and off the track. Beyond its performance, this car has a sleek exterior design that helps it stand out on the road, while it's also well-equipped with premium features.
The Giulia stands out in the compact luxury car segment with its stylish design, powerful engines, lithe handling, well-equipped trims and supportive seats. Keep in mind, though, it trails key rivals when it comes to passenger space, ride quality, interior storage compartments and interior quality. With the Giulia emphasizing performance, the car has a firm ride that can make it uncomfortable to drive on rough roads. And compared to other cars in the class, the Giulia has a cramped backseat with 35.1 inches of legroom and limited interior storage compartments that can make it difficult to store small items. The car’s cabin also has poor build quality, which stops it from feeling as upscale as some rivals.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Changes for 2022
- Standard adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automatic high-beam assist, parking sensors and lane departure warning.
- Updated infotainment system.
Where the Giulia Sits in the 2022 Alfa Romeo Lineup
Alfa Romeo’s vehicle lineup includes a car and an SUV called the Stelvio. The Giulia is the only car in Alfa Romeo’s lineup.
2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia vs. the Competition
- Audi A4:
The Audi A4 is another popular option in the compact class. It has standard all-wheel drive (AWD), a high-quality cabin and advanced tech features. The available A4 Allroad wagon also has a roomy cargo area and good off-roading capability, while the A4 sedan has athletic handling and a forgiving ride. The A4 isn’t as powerful or as athletic as the Giulia, but it has better fuel economy and a more premium cabin.
- Infiniti Q50:
Shoppers wanting a compact luxury car that has more value than the Giulia should explore the Infiniti Q50. The Q50 has luxurious styling, a competitive starting price tag and a powerful V6 engine. Infiniti sells the Q50 with a standard 300 horsepower engine that brings strong performance for the class, while the car is well-equipped with standard features. Compared to the Giulia, though, the Q50 has a dated interior design, an unintuitive infotainment system and less powerful engines.
- Genesis G70:
The Genesis G70 is a sporty compact car that delivers a similarly enjoyable driving experience as the Giulia, but at a more affordable price. The G70 is one of the more affordable options in the luxury segment, but it’s well-equipped, has a high-end interior, features a stylish design and is available with punchy engines. Genesis sells the G70 with a 365-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine, while the car also has athletic handling. It’s not as powerful as the Giulia, though, and has a tighter backseat and smaller trunk.

Consumer Reviews
Classic & distinctive. Stands out among brands and drives like a dream.
Smooth ride with little to no maintenance problems. 40k miles in so far and haven't had any issues.
Bever had a better car. It lo
This car has been an absolute joy to drive. It is nearly intuitive as to how it responds to you as a driver in just normal driving and then you flip the switch to Dynamic and it's somehow better. It is quick in all it's responses, it clings to the road and the ride is firm, but not objectively so for the performance. It's comfortable enough, but it's no BMW, Mercedes or Audi inside in terms of materials or fit/finish or seat comfort, though I can do 5 hours with little issue. It's a small car inside and out, which is OK but it's tight to squeeze 4 people in. I don't regret buying this car in the least, but I'm not sure how long I'll have it since service is a challenge due to only one Alfa dealer that's an hour away and few independent shops. Plus, as I write this, I have kids that are approaching driving age and I don't need the temptation for speed and fun this car provides, they don't either!
This Giulia is a fun car and a dependable daily driver. I really love be the sport seats. Handles the NJ snow well. Average 25 mpg.
