Is the 2021 Ford Transit Right for You?
What Is It & Who Is It For?
The 2021 Ford Transit is a full-size van that can be configured as a passenger van seating up to 15, a cargo van that seats two, and a crew van that seats five people and their cargo. Cutaway and chassis-cab versions without a cargo box are also available. The Transit is a good choice if you need a van with versatile configurations, capable engines, and agreeable handling.
What Makes It Unique?
The Transit offers multiple configurations, giving buyers the opportunity to tailor the van to suit their needs. On the handling front, the Transit is more refined than some rivals, making it a comfortable daily driver.
Transit vs. Other Fords
Ford’s product line is dominated by trucks, vans, and SUVs. The Transit is one of two vans in the lineup, slotting above the smaller Transit Connect.
Ford Transit vs. Competition
If you need maximum passenger or cargo capacity, a full-size van like the Transit is likely your best bet. The Transit competes with these models:
- Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Refined handling and upscale cabin.
- Chevrolet Express: Impressive towing and payload capabilities.
- Nissan NV: Pleasant handling and flexible cabin.

2021 Ford Transit Reviews
Consumer Reviews
Rides smooth with lots of power to haul and tow
I had a 2015 Ford Transit, I loved everything about it and it was time to trade it in for a new one. So I went to Veterans Ford dealership and ordered me a new one! Everything the same ( size, color and model) only this time a 12 passenger instead a 15 passenger van!
It is a class B motorhome,we love it
This one has the leather package so everything is wipe clean. A true sanity saver that preserves the value. I am also only 5ft 1” tall and I can see everything on the road. I did upgrade the rear view mirror with an Amazon clip on so I can see my babies. I absolutely love this vehicle and the gas mileage is great for its size. Extremely comfortable for road trips!
I'm having trouble with the sliding door. No one seems to be able to fix it at Ford, or they don't have a body shop. I was without a van for almost a month, and the only thing I could get was $40/daily for a car. Which is in no way comparable to a 15-passenger van.
