About Ford
Ford is one of the oldest automakers in the world and also one of the most popular. The automaker’s success is due to its extensive lineup, which has something for everyone. Commercial vans, supercars, iconic SUVs, heavy-duty pickup trucks, family friendly SUVs, and efficient vehicles are all available with a Ford badge.
Compared to its modern lineup, Ford’s roster of vehicles in 2000 included a lot more cars. The automaker had vehicles such as the Thunderbird, Taurus, Fusion, Five Hundred, Focus, and Crown Victoria. Redesigned versions of the Focus and Taurus, and the introduction of the Fiesta, reaffirmed Ford’s commitment to cars. Now, however, the Mustang is the only car that Ford sells.
While Ford’s cars were popular, its SUVs and pickup trucks were even more in demand. SUVs such as the Freestyle, Edge, Escape, and Excursion were around in the early parts of the 2000s, as were nameplates such as the Explorer, Expedition, Edge, and Escape, which continue to be available.
No other automaker has had as much success as Ford with its pickup trucks. The F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle of any type in the U.S. for the past few decades, while the F-250, F-350, and F-450 give drivers even more capability. Small pickups such as the Ranger and Maverick are also now available for drivers who don’t need as much capability.
Recently, Ford brought back popular name plates such as the Bronco and GT in enthusiast-based vehicles. Electric vehicles also play a large role in Ford’s current and future lineup, as the brand has vehicles such as the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, which leverage some of its most iconic nameplates with electric powertrains.
