2025 Porsche 718 Boxster Review
Pros
- Many customization options
- Robust engine choices
- Peppy driving dynamics
Cons
- Competitors have more tech features
- Costs more than some rivals
The 2025 Porsche 718 Boxster is a luxury sports convertible with two seats. The 718 Boxster is for drivers seeking a sports car with eager driving dynamics and a wealth of optional amenities.
Porsche gives buyers a choice of several powertrains. The base engine is a 4-cylinder with 300 horsepower, and a 350-horsepower four-cylinder is also on the roster. A 4.0-liter 6-cylinder makes 394 horsepower in the GTS and 493 horsepower in the top Spyder RS. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, and buyers can choose a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
This Porsche’s engines are built to impress. Every powertrain in the lineup is a winner, but the 4.0-liter 6-cylinder is your best bet for maximizing the thrill quotient. Responsive driving dynamics complement the engines, making the 718 Boxster a blast to drive.
Endless customization options allow you to tailor this car to suit your specific vision. Available add-ons include LED headlights, ventilated seats, and upgraded Bose and Burmester audio systems.
There are also some shortcomings to keep in mind. The 718 Boxster has a relatively steep price, costing more than many rivals in its class, yet its competitors have more tech features.

2025 Porsche 718 Boxster Reviews
Consumer Reviews
Great build quality and exceptional performance
This car is something Porsche swore they’d never do…make a Boxster that’s better than the 911. It’s the only open top RS car and the last mid-engine internal combustion Porsche. The performance is spectacular and is only eclipsed my the raw emotion of driving it. If you have the means and can find one, buy it!
Outstanding handling and steering on this manual model. Drive comfort is amazing considering it is a sports car. The only challenging aspect of owning a vehicle like this in my area is the inability to drive it in the way it shows off its’ unique driving performance unless i hop on the highway and head out-of-town. I do take long drives on twisty roads with the top down which are moments to savor.
One of the most exhilarating drives available today. 4 litre, 9000 rpm GT3 motor in a Boxster convertible. The sound from the air intake by your head is perfect and the downshifts bark. Only drawback is manual convertible top that takes some time to take off and put on.
