2022 Jeep Cherokee Review

Written by Jim Gorzelany

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee is a compact SUV that seats five people. It’s best for those seeking a two-row crossover SUV with Jeep-centric styling and bona fide brand heritage.

The Jeep Cherokee is one of a few small crossover SUVs that can be equipped to handle rugged off-road trails, especially in its Trailhawk trim. Engine choices include the base 271-horsepower V6 and an optional 270-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder, both mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Most trims get one of two 4-wheel-drive (4WD) systems, both with selectable traction modes. The Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Jeep Cherokee Changes for 2022

  • New Cherokee X trim.
  • Latitude Lux trim adds power liftgate, 7-inch display, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, security system, universal garage door opener, and a 115-volt power outlet.

Where the Cherokee Sits in the 2022 Jeep Lineup

The Cherokee is part of an expansive selection of 4×4 Jeeps, including the military-derived Wrangler and its Gladiator pickup spinoff, along with the subcompact Renegade and compact Compass crossovers and the rugged five-seat Grand Cherokee.

Has been a very reliable car.

Over the years I have had this car it has only needed standard routine maintenance such as oil changes and wiper blades. Finally had to replace the battery which took about 10 minutes.
