2009 Volvo S80 Review
Pros
- Spacious, comfortable cabin.
- Well-balanced ride and handling.
- Available blind spot warning.
- Many available options.
Cons
- Lackluster base engine.
- Passive handling without optional adaptive suspension.
The 2009 Volvo S80 is a full-size luxury sedan that seats five people. It’s an offbeat but accommodating alternative to the usual suspects among luxury European rides.
Volvo’s flagship S80 adds a few new features for 2009, but it remains a comfortable and refined ride, with clean styling inside and out, a well-mannered suspension, and good overall performance. Engine choices include a standard 3.2-liter inline-6-cylinder that produces 235 horsepower, a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with 281 horses, and a 4.4-liter V8 that generates a stout 311 horsepower. The base model is front-wheel drive (FWD), but the two optional engines are mated to all-wheel drive (AWD). A 6-speed automatic transmission is included across the line. As befits the brand, safety systems are plentiful.

2009 Volvo S80 Reviews
Consumer Reviews
4yrs Very roomy and comfortable seats and smooth ride It’s been very reliable and because of its age I’ve had to have some things replaced It’s not that bad it’s great for long drives as compared to short trips I feel very safe driving it, it’s a larger car. It’s almost almost perfect no tears or rips and driver seat has the most wear but it’s not terrible It’s basic Bluetooth connectivity to ur phone for calls and navigation but if you want to play media it doesn’t work for some reason so the workaround is to get a Bluetooth dongle that you can plug into the cigarette lighter and that uses your radio signal. It handles very well but it’s not a sports car so you have to keep that in mind and drive sensibly this is not for a 20 something or maybe even a 30 something unless they don’t care it’s kinda of like a cool looking grandpa car. I will say they don’t like bumpy or rocky roads but a nice smooth surface and the drive is like butter. I wish my particular model came with foldable side mirrors standard and the console does look dated it was upgraded some years later for 2011 Have not gone to a dealer for service but a local shop that works on imports and the cost hasn’t been astronomical maybe slightly more than average but nothing like what you hear people are paying for other luxury brands. That’s its roomy, comfortable and a nice ride
This vehicle has been an excellent choice. No major problems at all. It runs perfectly.
this car gets great gas moilage although the check engine light is on and we don't know why
never any problems have not had any repairs reliable and responsive
S80 3.2 is more reliable than my s70 turbo. it is almost on 150000miles, running great
