2006 Volvo S40
2006 Volvo S40 Review
The 2006 Volvo S40 is a compact luxury sedan with five seats and optional all-wheel drive (AWD). The standard drivetrain is a 168-horsepower inline-5-cylinder engine that pairs with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD). Acceleration is merely OK with this engine, and fuel economy is an EPA-rated 22 mpg combined with either transmission.
The S40 T5 gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder that produces 218 horsepower and can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic, with FWD standard and AWD optional. Thanks to its nimble handling and small size, the S40 is ideal at dicing through traffic and sneaking into parking spots. Its ride is on the firm side, however, and some key rivals feel sportier from behind the wheel.
Helping the S40 stand out is its airy and distinctly Scandinavian interior and hugely supportive seats; Volvo really does know how to craft some comfortable perches. Less enamoring is the cramped backseat.

2006 Volvo S40 Reviews
Consumer Reviews
This has been a great car still no rust after all these years , its a TANK, good on gas and runs well. Interior seats show some sun damage over the years. We've stayed up to date with oil change and tire rotations as well as routine maintenance. New tires were put on recently and just had new brakes and calipers.
Great car for the money great on gas and very powerful
Pretty simple and dosnt break but when it does incredibly simple to work on, I would recommend this vehicle expose a first car
This has been a great car but expensive to repair and parts are getting to be scarce
2006 It's reliability: My Volvo S40 T5 delivers a confident blend of poise and punch that makes everyday or highway driving feel anything but ordinary. Its handling is crisp and composed, hugging corners with a reassuring sense of control, while the powertrain offers just the right amount of zest to make merging and overtaking feel effortless. Whether you're navigating tight city streets or cruising down the highway, the S40 T5 strikes a sweet balance between comfort and responsiveness—making every drive feel like a well-tuned performance. None GREAT! Okay GREAT! Add Bluetooth or wired support for mobile phones. Spot on the body style good
