2006 GMC Savana
2006 GMC Savana Review
The 2006 GMC Savana is a full-size van available in multiple body styles, including passenger and cargo vans in regular- and extended-wheelbase versions. Passenger vans can seat eight, 12, or 15 passengers. The Savana is for drivers who need a roomy and versatile vehicle.
GMC gives Savana buyers a choice of four engines. The 1500’s standard engine is a 4.3-liter V6 with 195 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, which pairs with rear-wheel drive (RWD). All-wheel-drive 1500 models get a 5.3-liter V8 with 295 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque; this engine is optional on RWD 1500 models. The Savana 2500 uses a 4.8-liter V8 that makes 285 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while stepping up to the 3500 gets you a 6.0-liter V8 with 300 horsepower and a torque rating of 360 pound-feet.
The Savana’s engines are robust enough to move this large van quickly. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available for more secure handling in rain, ice, and snow, and because the Savana has many configurations, it’s easy to tailor this van to suit your needs and lifestyle.
There are also some shortcomings to consider: This van’s interior materials look and feel cheap, and its large size makes handling unwieldy.

2006 GMC Savana Reviews
Consumer Reviews
Great Van. Except for the fact that all the Paint Wants to Peel Off! I thought I wasn't taking good care, but all the White GMC Vans on or around the year 2006 appear to do the same..... Then the Primer wears off.... Then the surface rust, then the erosion - to the point that rain drips to the van's interior. A few other minor issues, but it has served fme well, and continues to do so.
Savana is a cargo van. It's ride was structured for a full load of freight. So when it's empty and usually is, the ride can be a little ruff. I put 5 cement blocks in the far back to keep the back end from bouncing around. Helps a lot.
My 06 GMC Savana van hasdr been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Basic maintenance has kept this vehicle dependable and reliable with no breakdowns ever with a mileage of 171,000 miles. It has an $8,000 professional braunability wheelchair lift I use to comfortably transport my handicap brother. Loaded with features, am fm cd player, 20" roof installed TV, DVD player; double entry side doors on drivers and passenger sides-pwr disc brakes with newly installed brakes, calipers, rotors. Air shocks, new tires, chrome rims, front and rear icy cold air. Designed for traveling in comfort. Body does have some scratches from jealous drivers and other drivers resent that my vehicle blocks their clear view of the road and feel they must pass me no matter what. And finally the smaller V8 in this van is actually more cost efficient than the Vans I owned that had 6 cylinder engines.
Very comfortable for long trip s.
Running like new tires are in very good condition.
