Due to the fact that I am a disabled Marine Corps veteran and have difficulty walking, my wife brought our vehicle in for warranty service. The part needed to be ordered and upon receipt, we were able to schedule service. According to my wife, everyone she interacted with at Vachon Chevrolet was courteous, respectful and professional. This has always been our experience with Vachon and that is why we bring our vehicle there vs. the dealership we purchased the vehicle from originally. At the time, the other dealership was the only one with the truck I specifically desired, at a time when computer chips were scarce. Unfortunately, our experience with the service department was a red flag to me that was a portent for future issues. We were very fortunate to encounter Vachon Chevrolet to service our vehicle. It is important to me that I perceive integrity from organizations with whom I interact. I feel comfortable sending my wife to Vachon for service as I know that she will be treated fairly and the work will be performed with customer satisfaction in mind. As an aside, I am compelled to mention that we were provided with a loaner vehicle. We very much appreciate that, however; the vehicle was an EV. I don't believe many customers are familiar with the operation of an EV and therefore it is probably not the type of vehicle that should be loaned to customers who are unfamiliar with such. Additionally, initially, there was a problem seeing the information displayed on the dash. It appeared to be blank. A technician was called and determined that the dash was not illuminated because the vehicle was parked under a canopy. That is illogical to me. If the vehicle sensors detect darkness, seems as if the dash should illuminate. He did check to determine if the interior lighting dimmer was turned down to no avail. My wife felt uncomfortable operating the vehicle as even after it was pulled out from under the canopy, the dash was still very dimly lit. It provided an unnecessary distraction while driving as my wife found herself concentrating on the dash to determine her rate of travel in an unfamiliar vehicle. I don't know if EVs as loaners was part of the scheme to have America only able to operate EVs but in my humble opinion, it is a potential liability for Vachon Chevrolet to utilize these unfamiliar vehicles as loaners. I'm not angry or upset. I have always comported myself with the adage that if you are not aware of a problem, you cannot correct it. In my opinion, this has the real potential to be a problem in the near future. We do very much appreciate the service and the personnel at Vachon. It is my hope that Vachon will reconsider the policy of loaning out primarily EVs subsequent to perusing this commentary. Thank you.
