I had been to this shop last year for my inspection. So, I went again this year expecting the same friendly, fast service. A different person was there. Before I even got out of my car, "Have you been here before"? What does that matter? And then, checked the date on my insurance card 3 times (almost as if he was checking for wet ink) and then he goes inside and pulls up some info, and calls me by another name. I gave him my name and reminded him that it was on the insurance card I had given him. "Did you buy the car pre-owned"? Is that his business? "There's another name on here". Now, by this time I know what Nancy Drew is doing. He has pulled up the VIN to see if the car belongs to me, and how I react to his calling me the last owners name. I have owned this car for a few years now. The last owner's name is not going to pop up unless you look for it. And, had he looked in his account records for my name he would have known that he had just lost a repeat customer. He made his assumption when he walked up to my car and saw my face. I made my decision after I saw his prejudice. The only reason he got this many stars is the man in the bay doing my inspection had a different attitude. But I don't intend to go back. I like making long lasting connections. I have had the same mechanic for over 20 yrs. (I just did not want to wait for him; he's so good one has to make appointments!) I don't need to feel like a suspect.
