After the oil change I looked under the hood and found that the mechanic left an oil cloth rag on the motor near alternator. I also noticed that 3 of my tires were overinflated to 40 psi, and that the clock time was incorrect. Since all of my previous experiences at German Auto Works were positive, I feel that the carelessness and/or negligence the I experienced during this service visit is atypical.

Significantly less expensive ($2,000) than BMW dealership for BMW-diagnosed issue. Then, proactively noted that the BMW diagnosis and recommendation may not be correct given low mileage on my vehicle and known problems per BMW technical manuals. So, performed "second opinion" inspection (for free) and confirmed the expensive BMW recommendation was unnecessary, there was no damage to the original part, and the actual issue that needed to be repaired was as indicated in the BMW technical manual. Made timely repair to actual problem. Total savings $5,000. Car now drives fine without previous symptoms.
