I took my car in for an oil change. They tried to tell me I needed a bunch of work done on my car. They said I need to replace my front control arms and get a front end alignment. They said my tires need to be replaced soon if not now. That was a lie! They said I need new breaks too. They said I need to replace my spark plugs and valve cover gasket, I told them I was getting a loud vibration when driving and I asked them if it was because of the control arms that they said need replaced? The service lady told me " UMM POSSIBLY I'M NOT SURE BUT, YEA IT COULD BE!" Oh so you're just going to guess that's the problem without offering to even take it for a test drive and you guess? Total for all the work they said I needed done was over $3,400!
I took my car to another repair shop that is local by my house and asked them to look at it to see if they see anything that needs replaced. I told them everything Germain Mazda was saying I needed to have done and took my paperwork from Germain to show the other repair shop. The mechanic showed me the control arms and said they don't need replaced and they couldn't understand why Germain Mazda was telling me they need to be replaced! He said the tires look fine and showed me the tread depth but, did say eventually I would need new tires but, not now! They did agree since I had over 111,000 miles on my car, I should change the spark plugs. So I had them change the spark plugs and replace the valve cover gasket that was leaking. He said my breaks didn't need replaced yet but soon will need new pads.
I asked the mechanic about the loud vibration sound I was having and he said he would take it for a test drive to see if he could hear it. That's something Germain Mazda did NOT even offer to do so they had no clue what was causing the problem!
The mechanic got a block down the road and could tell exactly what the problem was. He said it's the wheel bearings in the driver side front wheel. They replaced that and now my car is riding nice and smooth. They did not try to charge me for repairs and parts that I didn't need like Germain Mazda did! Their service writer laughed at Germain Mazda for telling me I needed all that other stuff repaired and couldn't understand why Germain Mazda was saying I needed all those repairs when I didn't? He said they do that because they want to make a commission and more repairs means more hours for the mechanic that they can charge for labor.
He said their garage will never recommend repairs and parts to any of their customers unless it's absolutely necessary! The local repair shop saved me over $2,300 in repairs and parts that my car did NOT need! That's an honest business compared to Germain Mazda who in my opinion, is NOT an honest business and are just trying to make a commission on repairs I didn't really need!
That is why I will NEVER go back to Germain Mazda again! We had a bad experience when we were buying my car after the lease was up. I've usually had good service until recently. Germain Mazda lost a valuable long time customer. Trust me do not go to this dealership for service or to purchase a car. Stay away from them and go to another Mazda dealership in town! They're a terrible dishonest business! My complaint is going to their corporate office.
