2005 Chevrolet Impala Review
Is the 2005 Chevrolet Impala Right for You?
What Is It & Who Is It For?
The 2005 Chevrolet Impala is a large sedan that can seat up to six people. It’s an easy choice for drivers who prefer a classically spacious, comfortable big car with easygoing driving dynamics.
What Makes It Unique?
The 2005 Chevrolet Impala is a throwback to the way family cars used to be: large and in charge. It’s been an off-and-on part of Chevy’s lineup since 1958, with two available V6s but no V8. The 2005 model offers a 240-horsepower supercharged V6 in the top SS trim, which drives modestly sportier than the rest of the easygoing Impala line.
2005 Chevrolet Impala vs. Competition
Ford Taurus: Roomy, easygoing, smoothly styled large sedan.
Mercury Monterey: Smooth-riding sedan and wagon with a V6 engine.
Honda Accord: Wide model range with 4-cylinder, V6, and hybrid models.
Toyota Avalon: If Toyota built a V6 Buick, this is what it would be.

What’s New for 2005?
This generation of the Impala dates back to the 2000 model year, when it replaced the Lumina sedan. It continued with modest changes, including the introduction of the SS and its supercharged V6 engine for 2004. The Impala received a major update for 2006, and the SS was discontinued for 2010. The car was next redesigned for 2014.

Which 2005 Chevrolet Impala Trim Is the Best Value?
Original starting price, including MSRP and destination charge:
Base: $22,350
LS: $25,460
SS: $28,555
The base model comes relatively unadorned. The LS is the better choice thanks to a stronger V6 engine and added amenities.
The SS should be the enthusiast’s choice — at least ones who are fans of big traditional cars. It features a 240-horsepower supercharged V8 and other upgrades.
