About Nissan
Nissan is Japan’s third largest automotive brand behind Toyota and Honda. It’s known for the all-electric Leaf, which was the world’s first mass-produced EV; the first production variable compression ratio engine with the VC-Turbo; and for its advanced ProPilot Assist system.
The new century saw Nissan introduce some important vehicles for the brand. Its SUV lineup expanded with new options such as the rugged Xterra, sporty Murano, and large Armada. The Titan, which is Nissan’s full-size pickup truck, was first introduced in 2004 and gave buyers seeking more capability than the midsize Frontier a robust option. Shoppers looking for quirky vehicles could choose between the Cube and Juke. Sports cars have always played a large role in Nissan’s lineup, with the Z being around since 2003 and the range-topping GT-R being introduced in 2009.
Modern-day Nissan is far more grown up and sophisticated. The automaker has an extensive lineup of cars with the Versa, Sentra, Altima, and Maxima. Nissan has also been hard at work on its lineup of SUVs by expanding with smaller options. There are six different Nissan SUVs on sale including the Kicks, Rogue Sport, Rogue, Murano, Pathfinder, and Armada. Available pickup trucks include the midsize Frontier, large Titan, and even more capable Titan XD.
While Nissan was one of the first automakers to have an EV on sale with the Leaf, it’s been slow to expand its electrified lineup. The Ariya, which came out in 2023, is Nissan’s first new EV in a decade. The automaker has large plans for the future, though, aiming to have 27 electrified models, including 19 EVs, in its lineup by 2030.
