About Honda
Unlike most automakers, Honda’s reach extends well beyond cars. Its full product line includes motorcycles, airplane engines, private jets, boat engines, and lawn equipment. While Honda wears many hats, it’s best known for its automobiles, which have earned a reputation for being reliable.
Instead of focusing on coming out with all-new models every few years, Honda has prioritized setting up a rounded lineup of cars and SUVs and focused on keeping its vehicles modern and competitive. Small cars like the Civic, Accord, and Fit, SUVs like the CR-V and Pilot, and the Ridgeline pickup truck have all been around since the early 2000s and continue to be popular. Honda’s earlier lineup did have more emphasis on performance with options like the Prelude, S2000, and even the sporty CR-Z hybrid in the early 2000s. The automaker also had more adventurous vehicles with the funky Element and Accord Crosstour. The few new models that Honda has introduced recently include the subcompact HR-V and midsize Passport, though the latter was more of a comeback since it was available in the 1990s.
Honda has consistently had a small lineup of electrified vehicles on sale and continues to work on expanding the number of hybrids it sells. Early hybrids like the CR-Z, Insight, and Civic Hybrid aren’t sold anymore, though Honda does have the Accord Hybrid and CR-V Hybrid today. The automaker used to be one of the few to have a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle on sale with the Clarity, which was also available as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). More recently, Honda has partnered with GM for the all-electric Prologue that’s expected to go on sale in 2024.
