I have recently moved from a Mercedes dealership to Freeman Motors and am very pleased with their service. One thing I particularly appreciate is no sense of pressure when they find something that needs attention but can wait. I told them recently that my car is starting to feel at home with them!

Smoke and mirrors. Dealer lacks transparency with many signs of ethical issues. I received the typical "automated" and canned email that said "I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have! By the way, are you local to the Portland area or are you from out of town?" Aside from the inept grammar, it was an immediate red flag. I responded via text but it quickly became apparent that Freeman wasn't going to provide info on the vehicle's condition. 1.) No inspection report 2.) no reconditioning report were provided to assuage my concerns because they don't do any of this. Red Flag 2. Aside from the smug sleazy attitude via text, not one phone call. That spoke volumes. Guy thinks he's clever but is a charlatan who can't back up anything on their site. The "red carpet" they state on their website is garbage. I vetted this dealer through multiple online sources (review sites and BBB), ran several VINs thru various tools I have to see history and my findings showed a pattern of disturbing behavior. 1. Their cars are purchased thru auctions and many have accident history. Any repair diminishes the car's market value which their pricing washes over. Some use a manufacturer certified shop and others not. Metallic paint is not easy to work with and may not match. What shop they use or has been used is unknown. 2. E-mails are automated like many car dealers with atrocious grammar. My questions/concerns sent via AutoTrader were NOT answered. Not one. I followed up setting the terms for engagement and was ghosted. 3. Their prices are well above an already inflated car market due to COVID. The car I was interested in was $3,000 above Los Angeles and barely a fair deal in their own local market. No willingness to negotiate or an iota of expressed desire to come to an agreement. ZERO. Avarice much? Yep. 4. CARFAX - Service history is uneven or missing on many of the CARFAXs yet they claim a "clean CARFAX." NOT So. Misleading. Car was in a moderate accident. Know the mileage requirements for services as it pertains to your model. Oil changes were missing. 5. Stolen photos. They stole photos from another dealer who sold the car I was interested in. Photos were posted on a 3rd party site as their own -- even with the competitors logo. I can't upload photos here but see Google maps review. 6. Evidence suggests someone has been driving this car with dealer plates on an overdue transmission judging from the CarFax I read. Sometimes a dealer will owe on the car and use it as a dealer vehicle until it's clear of the lien. If they drove this car hard like a racer boy, then the transmission life is at risk of being shortened and could have damage or significant wear. BIG RED FLAG 7. Links to the CarFax on their website have been removed. 8. Certified techs is highly questionable. I discovered they outsource inspections to local shops and some have stopped working with them leaving negative reviews! Yikes. It's not clear on the frequency. This dealer claims they have certified mechanics on staff but no bios on their site nor who they are even when using LinkedIn. 9. No conditioning or inspection reports. 10. Financing/No Hold Deposit. "No hold deposit" means travel at your own risk. They can sell it right from underneath you. NOTE: Under Oregon law, it's "100% legal" for a dealer to sell a car if the financing is NOT approved. If a dealer calls you later and says your financing failed, you have a right to a full refund. You are entitled to what you put down on the car back (cash and trade-in) when you take the car back to them. I personally won't buy from this dealer. It's clear to me these guys cut corners and get away with it. Many play the "used car" card saying it's out of warranty burdening the overly trusting customer or as some do buy the car back making a quick profit. Just because it's legal does not mean it's a good way to do business. BOTTOMLINE: Too many red flags and they did everything possible for me NOT to trust them 1 inch. High end cars yes but with high end problems at 90k miles when you can't prove actual condition.
