1996 SATURN S-SERIES
The older saturns (2002 and prior) are the only ones worth while. I am a car dealer and a master mechanic, have bought and sold well over a few hundred saturn cars. The ION is a very problematic vehicle.
2001 SATURN S-SERIES
My 1999 Saturn SC2 (with the little third door on the driver's side) died of abuse and old age and I needed another quickly. I found a 2001 just listed in Craigslist, with only 19500 miles. Too good to be true. I ran the VIN number on Carfax and it checked out. Wow! Driven only 1400 miles a year by a little old lady. Really...and she only wanted $2000! The bargain of a lifetime. With Craigslist, Carfax and perfect timing I ended up being one lucky guy.

1998 SATURN S-SERIES
The price was right and the Saturn has been a good safe car and proven itself many times to me and my family. This sw1 gets 40 mpg!!!!

1997 SATURN S-SERIES
I bought this car used and it runs great. I did some minor improvements to the components (better fog lights, replaced head assemblies, and bought new tires). The car is a manual transmission 5-speed and gets an average of 30 mpg (28 city / 33 highway). Not a lot of power (only a 4 cylinder), but in today's economy, I'll trade fuel economy for power. Considering it's a station wagon, it's a lot more sporty of a car than I would of thought.
