2014 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE
Great car for those who are driving is mostly city or rural. I have no problem getting 50 sometimes even 60 mpg with mostly rural driving with speeds under 55. I recently took it on a 2600 mile trip and averaged 50 mpg. Please be warned the seats aren't overly comfortable for long trips. We have a stick shift and cvt and the cvt gets overly excited about little inclines. Unless it's flat driving the stick shift gets a few mpg better than the cvt. They're very practical reliable cars.
2000 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE
I bought a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage DE after my old Chrysler became too old and too expensive to continue repairing. I searched for something of reasonably low price (less than $5000) and decently low mileage (under 80,000) on Cars.com.
I didn't have any strong feelings about Mitsubishis, the Mirage, or any car in particular. I just wanted a nice, normal sized car (no SUVs, vans, or trucks) as a conveyance to get me around. And that's what the Mirage is: a conveyance. It's kind of a boring car. It has kind of a weak engine. It came in a blah blah silver color. But it has what I need, automatic transmission, working heat and air conditioning, and a stereo. I think mine had an aftermarket stereo put in, because it doesn't match the rest of the car.
At any rate, this seems to be a good reliable car for someone who just wants to get around from point A to point B at a safe speed. It has 4 doors which is a big plus because I don't have to swing around the front seat to put things in the back, and it of course makes things easier on passengers.
