Jeep's Renegade is a subcompact SUV that seats five passengers, and it's sold in Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk trims. Both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available.

For 2017, the Jeep Renegade adds keyless ignition as a standard feature on all trims, and Limited models gain standard passive entry. Finally, HID headlamps and automatic high-beams join the list of available options.

Exterior

Exterior

It's impossible to mistake the 2017 Renegade for anything but a Jeep. The brand's trademark circular headlamps illuminate the front fascia, and they flank a chrome-edged black grille. The Renegade's profile reveals standard black exterior door handles, and base models ride on standard 16-inch wheels.

Standard features on the Renegade include halogen headlamps and daytime running lights. The list of exterior options includes roof rails, a sunroof, 17- or 18-inch wheels, power-adjustable heated side mirrors, HID headlights, fog lamps and body-colored exterior door handles.

Interior

Interior

The 2017 Jeep Renegade comes with an attractive and pleasantly refined interior. Legroom in the front row is abundant, but things are a bit more constricted for those seated in the rear. The Renegade provides 18.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the second row and 50.8 cubic feet with the second row lowered.

Standard features include cloth upholstery, front seats with six-way manual adjustability, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. The list of available features includes dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 40/20/40-split folding rear seat with trunk pass-through, heated front seats and leather upholstery.

Performance

Performance

The 2017 Jeep Renegade is notable for comfortable ride quality that keeps bumps and harshness at bay. Base models come with a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine good for 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet for torque. This power plant has an EPA rating of 24/31 mpg city/highway, and it's governed by a six-speed manual transmission. The second engine choice is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that generates 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, and it's mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine has an EPA rating of up to 22/30 mpg.

Trailhawk models come standard with four-wheel drive and a raised suspension. The Jeep Renegade is capable of towing up to 2,000 pounds.
