2016 Takata Airbag Recalls

May 27, 2016 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled around 4.3 million vehicles, including a number of Jeep SUVs, in order to replace defective Takata air bag inflators. Due to an absence of a drying agent in the inflator canisters, inflator components can degrade over time and potentially result in a dangerous rupture of the metal casing when the airbags deploy.

June 3, 2016 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled over 1,000 Jeep SUVs in the U.S. to replace potentially faulty half-shafts.

May 27, 2016 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles released a recall on about 82 Jeep SUVs in the U.S. in order to replace potentially flawed half-shafts.

May 18, 2016 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled over 390,000 Jeep SUVs in the U.S. due to potential issues with clockspring assemblies, which help regulate airbag function.

  • 2011-2016 Jeep Wrangler with right-hand drive (special duty)

April 22, 2016 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled over 810,000 U.S. vehicles, including certain Jeep SUVs, to analyze user warnings and the transmission shift setup in order to minimize potential driver error associated with gear shifting.

April 5, 2016 – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalled about 14,700 SUVs, including certain Jeep SUVs in the U.S., due to potential brake issues. These vehicles may need to have brake calipers replaced in order to work effectively in extreme braking situations.
