The Jaguar XE is a compact luxury sedan available in rear- or all-wheel drive configurations. It is the successor to the Jaguar X-Type and shares a platform in common with the Jaguar F-Pace SUV.
Jaguar XE Overview
Introduced in 2017, the Jaguar XE brings the brand’s sleek design language to its smallest frame. This model is based on Jaguar’s modular architecture, which also underpins the F-Pace crossover. The XE is the first compact car for Jaguar since the X-Type was discontinued in 2009.
All XE models are instantly recognizable as Jaguars as they have short front and rear overhangs and a cab-rearward stance. Up front, this model is marked by a bold grille that is hemmed in by stylish headlamps and J-blade daytime running lights.
From front to rear, this sedan’s always-in-motion look features a powerfully sculpted hood, a rising beltline and a robust rear quarter drawing its design from the Jaguar F-Type coupe. The rear wraparound combination lamps feature an LED light design inherited from the iconic Jaguar E-Type.
Inside, the XE offers room for five in a cabin dressed in fine-grain leathers with twin-needle stitching, ambient lighting and textured aluminum or wood grain veneers. Standard equipment includes power-controlled front seats, a split-folding rear seat, dual-zone climate control and a rearview camera.
All models are outfitted with Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary input and USB connections. Upgrades bring in Xenon headlamps, larger alloy wheels, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, mood lighting, satellite radio, a navigation system and finer leather upholstery.
The Jaguar XE offers numerous standard and available safety and driver assistance features, including a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic detection and park assist.
Three engine choices are available with the Jaguar XE, depending on the model selected. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 240 horsepower is standard, and comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 340-horsepower, supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and a 180-horsepower, turbodiesel 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine are also offered.
The Jaguar XE competes with compact luxury models, including the BMW 3 Series, Volvo S60, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Cadillac ATS. Other models to consider include the Lexus IS, Infiniti Q50, Acura TLX and Audi A4.
