Infiniti Q50 and Q50 Hybrid Overview

Making its debut in 2014, the Infiniti Q50 offers one powertrain combination: a 3.7-liter, normally aspirated V6 gasoline engine making 328 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Infiniti pairs this engine with a seven-speed automatic transmission with a Sport mode and downshift rev matching. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.

The rear-wheel drive Q50 is EPA-rated at 20/29 mpg city/highway and takes premium grade gasoline.

The Q50 Hybrid is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine and utilizes a lithium-ion battery and a 50-kilowatt electric motor. It comes paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and makes 360 horsepower combined. Like the non-hybrid model, rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional.

The rear-wheel drive Q50 Hybrid is EPA-rated at 29/36 mpg city/highway and takes premium grade gasoline.

Infiniti makes the Q50 available in six trim levels: 3.7, 3.7 AWD, 3.7 Premium, 3.7 AWD Premium, Q50S 3.7 and Q50S 3.7AWD. The hybrid model is available in four trim levels: Hybrid Premium, Hybrid AWD Premium, Q50S Hybrid and Q50S Hybrid AWD.

The Infiniti Q50 comes equipped with LED headlights, dual power side mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels. This model also comes with keyless entry, a tilt and telescopic steering column, Infiniti InTouch displays, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and dual-zone climate control. All models are outfitted with refined materials such as leather, wood and metal trim.

The Premium edition adds heated front seats, a moonroof and a 14-speaker Bose audio system. Choose the Q50S and this model brings in 19-inch wheels, sport seats, sport brakes and a sport-tuned suspension. A unique sport front bumper, a 10-way power driver's seat and solid-magnesium paddle shifters are included.

A 60-40 split-folding rear seat is available, offering access to the trunk. Hybrid models have a fixed back seat. The trunk measures 13.5 cubic feet in the non-hybrid Q50, but just 9.4 cubic feet in the hybrid.

In crash testing conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Infiniti Q50 earned top scores of Good in four categories: moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints & seats. In the small overlap front test category it received an Acceptable rating. As a result, the IIHS has awarded the Infiniti Q50 with its Top Safety Pick+ award. The IIHS also gave Infiniti high marks for its front crash prevention system.
