The Cadillac CT6 is a full-size, five-passenger luxury sedan. Thanks to an abundance of standard tech features, leather-wrapped seats and a trio of engines that balance power and fuel efficiency, the CT6 is Cadillac’s well-stated answer to the segment’s established flagship sedans from European automakers.
Cadillac CT6 Overview
Introduced for the 2016 model year, the Cadillac CT6 is a rear-wheel-drive model that’s powered by a 265-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The all-wheel-drive CT6 comes with a 335-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6, while an enthusiast-pleasing twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 features 404 horsepower. All CT6 models use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Cadillac’s three engine choices allow consumers to build a full-size sedan specifically catered to their desires and interests. The fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbo achieves over 30 mpg on the highway and the twin-turbo 3.0-liter will give purpose-built sports cars trouble at the drag strip. Steering is precise and the suspension is comfort-tuned, but stable enough to allow the full-size CT6 to feel competent on winding roads. All-wheel-drive models add to the vehicle’s cornering prowess; the available all-wheel steering takes the CT6 handling to yet another level.
The CT6’s spacious cabin is attractive and the fit and finish is exemplary. Cadillac has gone to great lengths to assure that the CT6 is an unequivocally prestigious car that resides in a class of its own. Base models feature an infotainment center with a premium audio system. The standard leather seating is complemented by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and attractive trim pieces. Standard safety features include a rearview camera and front and rear park assist.
Top trim models include a full battery of active safety technologies, including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian alert and more. Other highlights include upgraded wheels, wireless smartphone charging and a nifty rearview mirror that has a built in video screen to project the view behind the vehicle.
The Cadillac CT6 joins a highly competitive full-size luxury sedan segment that includes the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and Audi A8. Other noteworthy rivals include the Jaguar XJ and Maserati Quattroporte.
