BMW Recalls 2016
The Takata airbag recall has been applied to 846,000 BMW cars. BMW will replace the airbags in all of these vehicles. No deaths have been reported for BMWs affected by the defective Takata's PSDI-5 driver side airbag inflators, which could create metal fragments in a crash.
Models affecting include the 2008-20013 1 Series Coupe and Convertible. Also 2006 - 2012 3 Series Sports Wagon, 2008 - 2013 3 Series Sedan, 2007 - 2013 3 Series Sports Coupe, 2006- 2013 3 Series Sports Wagon. Other models subject to this recall include select years of the X1, X3, X5, and X6. BMW announced: "Owners of potentially affected BMW vehicles will be contacted by first-class mail advising them of the recall. When replacement parts are available, owners will receive another letter with instructions for having the recall completed."
