Electric cars and SUVs are becoming increasingly popular, and automakers are offering more electric car lease deals on select models.
EVs are much pricier than cars with traditional powertrains, and financing the high sticker price can put a big dent in your monthly budget. For this reason, leasing is a good option for electric car shoppers since it typically means a lower monthly payment, lower out-of-pocket costs, and complete warranty coverage for the length of the lease. Once your lease is up, you won’t have to worry about selling it.
The U.S. government offers a tax credit of up to $7,500 if you purchase an electric vehicle, but each individual dealership gets to determine what to do with that credit when it comes to leasing. Be sure to do your homework and ask about the credit before signing on the dotted line, even if the advertised EV lease deal is a great one.
