Home////2017 Audi Q5 Review

The 2017 Audi Q5 is a compact luxury SUV that bears all the earmarks of Audi excellence. Its styling is the epitome of subdued refinement, and its cabin offers superb materials quality and impeccable attention to detail. The Q5 travels the road with Germanic assuredness, and its long list of standard features brings value to the premium crossover segment.

All Audi Q5 crossovers seat five and come standard with all-wheel drive. Buyers have a choice of two engines. Four trims are offered: 2.0T Premium, 2.0T Premium Plus, 3.0T Premium Plus and 3.0T Prestige. A high-performance variant, the Audi SQ5, is also available.

For 2017, the 3.0T Prestige model expands its list of standard features to include a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, adaptive cruise control and a Drive Select feature that allows you to customize steering weight, throttle sensitivity and the vehicle’s transmission program. The 2.0T Premium Plus trim now comes standard with 19-inch wheels. Finally, the Q5 hybrid has been dropped for the 2017 model year.

The 2017 Audi Q5 boasts sheet metal that embodies low-key elegance. The front fascia reveals a bold grille bordered by standard xenon plus headlights. Standard 18-inch wheels are visible from the side, and the crossover’s rear view presents slanted taillights that overlook a body-colored bumper.

Base models come with LED daytime running lights, front and rear fog lights, LED taillights, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, rear privacy glass and heated side mirrors. You can upgrade your Q5 with auto-dimming side mirrors, and 19-, 20- and 21-inch wheels are available.

Audis are known for providing tastefully sumptuous cabins, and the 2017 Q5 is no exception. The crossover’s interior features high-quality materials and stylish design. Both rows offer pleasant levels of spaciousness, and the 40/20/40-split folding rear seat slides and reclines to facilitate passenger comfort. The Q5 provides 29.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the second row, and this figure swells to 57.3 cubic feet when the rear seatbacks are folded.

All Q5 crossovers come with leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, ambient LED interior lighting, power windows with one-touch up/down operation and a folding and sliding center armrest for the front row. The list of available features includes heated front seats, heated and cooled cup holders, rear sunshades and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Q5’s ride quality is smooth and controlled, and its standard all-wheel drive makes this crossover a superb bet for those who regularly face rain or snow. All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque motivates 2.0T Premium and Premium Plus models, delivering an EPA rating of 20/27 mpg city/highway. The 3.0T Premium Plus and Prestige trims feature a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that generates 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Models with this engine achieve fuel economy of 18/26 mpg.

The Audi Q5 comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, an SD card slot, a driver information system, a CD/MP3 player and a 10-speaker sound system. Available features include HD radio, a navigation system, an upgraded color driver information system, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and a premium 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
