Audi Q3 Overview
The Audi Q3 is a compact, premium sport utility vehicle, offering standard front-wheel drive and Audi’s available and much-heralded Quattro all-wheel drive system. Unibody construction, Xenon plus headlights and LED lights, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a 12-way power driver’s seat and leather seating surfaces are among the standard features for the Audi Q3.
Audi offers the Q3 in two trim levels — Premium Plus and Prestige. Both models come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 200 horsepower, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting capability. The front-wheel drive Q3 gets an EPA-estimated 20/29 mpg city/highway; the all-wheel drive model gets 20/28 mpg city/highway. Premium grade gasoline is required.
The Audi Q3 seats five and comes equipped with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a tilt and telescopic steering column, ambient interior lighting, an illuminated glove box, lighted front vanity mirrors, 12-volt power outlets and eight beverage holders.
Choose the Prestige edition and this SUV brings in a power tailgate, a Bose audio system, Audi’s MMI navigation system, a stainless steel trunk sill and door sills and a rear view camera.
Interior room is tight and best suited for four passengers as shoulder and hip room is limited when a third person is present in the back seat. Folding down the arm rest provides more comfort for two as well as the requisite two cup holders.
Cargo room is compact, offering just 16.7 cubic feet of standard storage capacity. However, when the rear seat is folded that capacity triples to 48.2 cubic feet. The rear seat folds flat to accommodate your luggage or yard sale finds.
In the Q3, Audi offers numerous safety features such as: a suite of air bags, including front thorax side air bags; anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist; and hill brake assist. The available Audi side assist package comes into play when a driver changes lanes. Specifically, radar sensors embedded in the rear bumper constantly monitor the driver’s blind spot. When a vehicle appears in the blind spot, an LED warning signal lights up.
Audi utility vehicle customers might also cross shop the Audi Allroad, a wagon-like utility vehicle that can also seat five. Chief competitors include the BMW X1, Lincoln MKC, Volvo XC60 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.
