2017 Audi A5 Review

Home////2017 Audi A5 Review

Style and refinement are two things people expect luxury coupes and convertibles to provide, and the 2017 Audi A5 is no slouch in either department. The A5 entices with stunning sheet metal, and it handles itself with poise on the road.

Audi’s A5 seats four passengers, and it’s available as a premium coupe or convertible. All models come with all-wheel drive, and both a six-speed manual transmission and an eight-speed automatic are available.

For 2017, the A5 condenses its lineup to a single, well-equipped trim. Front and rear parking sensors are now standard. An optional Convenience package has been introduced, and it bundles features such as heated front seats and auto-dimming side mirrors.

The 2017 Audi A5 projects modern elegance from all angles. Its lines are smooth and sculpted, with a tall single-frame grille dominating the car’s front fascia. Automatic xenon headlights cast their glow on the road ahead, and all models cruise on 18-inch alloy wheels. In back, you’ll find standard features such as LED taillights, rear fog lights, dual exhaust outlets and a rear spoiler.

Base models come with heated windshield wash nozzles, aluminum exterior trim, a headlight washing system, front fog lights and LED daytime running lights. Coupes are available with a Black Optic package that features 19-inch wheels with gloss-black accents and black exterior trim.

Audi is renowned for crafting cars with modish interiors, and the 2017 A5 is no exception. The cabin strikes a note of understated opulence, with premium materials used throughout. The first row is a roomy haven, but seating in the second row is tight for adults. Coupes provide 12.2 cubic feet of capacity, while convertibles serve up 10.2 cubic feet for your personal items.

Base models come with three-zone automatic climate control, split-folding rear seats, a flat-bottom multifunction sport steering wheel, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, leather upholstery and 10-way power-adjustable front seats. All coupes are equipped with a panoramic sunroof. A Convenience package adds heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and driver seat memory.

The 2017 Audi A5 comports itself with athletic poise on pavement. The car’s standard all-wheel drive is a godsend in rough weather, and works to keep the A5 stable and grounded. A six-speed manual transmission allows you to row your own gears, and an eight-speed automatic is also offered. All models are motivated by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and this power plant achieves mileage of up to 23/32 mpg city/highway.

The list of standard technology features in the 2017 Audi A5 includes satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a HomeLink garage door opener, front and rear parking sensors, an SD card slot with 32 GB operating capacity and a 10-speaker sound system. An available Technology package adds blind spot monitoring, a rearview camera, HD radio, a DVD player and a navigation system.
