This CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX and available as of 1/20/19 at 6:42:17 PM (CST). Other information about this vehicle, including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAX. Use this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about your next used car.
Hail Damage Title
The vehicle sustained major damage due to hail. In most states, hail damage titles are issued when the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value.
Manufacturer Buyback or Lemon Title
A DMV or a state agency marks an official document or issues a Manufacturer Buyback/Lemon title when a vehicle has been repurchased by the manufacturer. Not all states issue manufacturer buyback titles and the specific requirements for a lemon law vehicle varies by state.
Manufacturer Recall
Automobile manufacturers issue recall notices to inform owners of car defects that have come to the manufacturer's attention. Recalls also suggest improvements that can be made to improve the safety of a particular vehicle. Most manufacturer recalls can be repaired at no cost to you.
Rebuilt/Reconstructed Title
A Rebuilt/Reconstructed vehicle is a salvage vehicle that has been repaired and restored to operation. These vehicles are often severely damaged before they are rebuilt and refurbished parts are typically used during reconstruction. In most states, an inspection of the vehicle is required before the vehicle is allowed to return to the road.
Odometer Check
CARFAX analyzes mileage data to help identify potential:
  • Rollbacks - odometer tampering to conceal a car's true mileage (i.e. Fraud or illegal activity)
  • Rollovers - after reaching the maximum reading, the odometer restarts from zero (i.e. Mechanical or equipment limitation)
  • Inconsistencies - conflicting mileage data means CARFAX cannot determine if it's a potential rollback (i.e. Potential human error)
Basic Warranty
Most manufacturers offer a basic warranty for new vehicles. These warranties vary by manufacturer and typically last for a certain amount of time and/or a set number of miles.
Airbag Deployment
Occurs when the driver, passenger or side airbag has been used or deployed during a crash or other incident. If an airbag has been deployed, it must be replaced by a qualified technician. Have this car inspected by a mechanic prior to purchase.

Exceeds Mechanical Limits Title
A vehicle with a 5-digit odometer cannot accurately track mileage after 99,999 miles because the odometer rolls over. This title is the result of a seller certifying under the Federal Odometer Act, that the odometer reading EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS of the odometer.
Dismantled Title
The vehicle sustained major damage to one or more major component parts and the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value. When a Dismantled title is issued, the vehicle may be used only for parts or scrap metal. It cannot be re-titled or returned to the road.
Flood Damage Title
States issue flood titles when a vehicle has been in a flood or has received extensive water damage.
Total Loss
An insurance or fleet company declares a vehicle a total loss when a claim exceeds approximately 75% of its pre-damage value or if the vehicle is stolen and not recovered. This damage threshold varies by company. These companies typically take possession and obtain the title. Not all total loss vehicles result in a DMV-reported branded title, like a Salvage or Junk title. See the glossary for more information.
Accident / Damage Indicator
Various events could indicate an accident or damage in a vehicle's history, such as: salvage auction, fire damage, police-reported accident, crash test vehicle, damage disclosure, collision repair facility and automotive recycler records. See the glossary for more information.

ACCESSORY WHEEL
Status: Remedy Available

Description: Toyota is recalling certain Model Year 2008 through 2011 FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, Sequoia and Tundra vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 138, Tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). when factory-installed wheels and tires were replaced with Toyota authorized accessory wheels and lt tires prior to first sale, the tire pressure monitoring systems were not re-calibrated correctly and therefore do not start illuminating the low tire pressure warning telltale at the required minimum activation pressure.

Failure to warn of tire deflations is a non-compliance with FMVSS 138 and could lead to tire failure increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: For the Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Tacoma and Tundra vehicles, the dealer will re-calibrate the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on affected vehicles and install an updated tire and loading information label at no charge. For the FJ Cruiser vehicles, the TPMS cannot be reset so the electronic control unit (ECU) for the TPMS will be replaced. If an owner is not certain whether his or her vehicle is equipped with these accessories, please contact any Toyota dealer for an inspection at no charge. The safety recall began on March 31, 2011. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

2005 THROUGH 2011 MODEL YEAR TACOMA ACCESS CAB
VEHICLES - DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT
ASSEMBLIES
Status: Remedy Available

Locate an authorized Toyota dealer near you to schedule an appointment

Description: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 tacoma access cab vehicles manufactured september 14, 2004, through march 29, 2010; and model year 2011 tacoma access cab vehicles manufactured july 1, 2010, through september 7, 2011. If the access doors are repeatedly and forcefully closed, the screws that attach the seat belt pre-tensioner to the seat belt retractor can loosen over time. If the screws loosen completely, the seat belt pre-tensioner and the retractor spring cover could detach from the seat belt retractor.

If the seat belt pre-tensioner detaches from the seat belt assembly, the seat belt pre-tensioner will not perform as designed, increasing the risk of injury in a severe crash.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt assemblies. Based on the inspection, the seat belt assembly will be replaced or new pre-tensioner screws will be installed with thread-locking sealant and a retractor spring cover with stopper ribs to prevent loosening of the screws. These services will be provided at no cost to the owner. The recall began during february 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

Status: Remedy Available

Locate an authorized Toyota dealer near you to schedule an appointment

Description: The subject vehicles' rear suspension system contains leaf springs that are constructed of either three or four leaves. There is a possibility that a leaf could fracture due to stress and corrosion. If this occurs and the vehicle continues to be operated, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components, including the fuel tank.

If the broken leaf contacts the fuel tank repeatedly, it could puncture the tank and cause a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, this could result in a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will replace the leaf springs with newly designed ones.

Accident Indicator
CARFAX receives information about accidents in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.

Not every accident is reported to CARFAX. As details about the accident become available, those additional details are added to the CARFAX Vehicle History Report. CARFAX recommends that you have this vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic.
  • According to the National Safety Council, Injury Facts, 2015 edition, 8% of the 254 million registered vehicles in the U.S. were involved in an accident in 2013. Over 74% of these were considered minor or moderate.
  • This CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX and available as of 1/20/19 at 6:42:17 PM (CST). Other information about this vehicle, including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAX. Use this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about your next used car.
Kentucky Damage Reports:
  • Provide an estimate of the extent of damage in its accident reports for the following:
    • SEVERE/TOTALED: The vehicle cannot be driven from the accident scene due to severe damage or an injury. This level of damage often results in a Salvage or Junk title.
    • MODERATE: The accident damage affects the operation of the vehicle and/or its parts. Examples include broken windows, trunk lids, doors, bumpers and tires.
    • MINOR: The accident damage does not affect the operation of the vehicle. Examples include dented bumpers, fenders, grills and body panels. This level of accident should not compromise vehicle safety.
    • NO DAMAGE: The vehicle was not damaged.
  • Are required if the estimated damage exceeds $500

First Owner
When the first owner(s) obtains a title from a Department of Motor Vehicles as proof of ownership.
Ownership History
CARFAX defines an owner as an individual or business that possesses and uses a vehicle. Not all title transactions represent changes in ownership. To provide estimated number of owners, CARFAX proprietary technology analyzes all the events in a vehicle history. Estimated ownership is available for vehicles manufactured after 1991 and titled solely in the US including Puerto Rico. Dealers sometimes opt to take ownership of a vehicle and are required to in the following states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Dakota. Please consider this as you review a vehicle's estimated ownership history.
Toyota Recall / Service Campaign
Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. provides CARFAX with recall and service campaign information for vehicles originally marketed or sold in the United States of America, its territories, and Mexico. Only open safety or emissions recalls and service campaigns where the remedy has not been completed, will be listed. While Toyota provides data updates to CARFAX on a regular basis, this report may not include very recent activity. For the most current information on recall and campaign activity for any Toyota vehicle, you must go to http://toyota.com/recall.
