About Toyota
Toyota is one of the largest automakers in the world and is known for its hybrids, rugged SUVs, and legendary sports cars. The Japanese automaker has a robust lineup of vehicles with roughly 30 available models, including 16 electrified vehicles. Most of Toyota’s vehicles are also best sellers in their respective segments.
Since the early 2000s, Toyota has worked on expanding its lineup and trying new things. The brand introduced the subcompact Echo and the full-size Tundra in 2000. The Celica and MR2 Spyder, meanwhile, showcased Toyota’s commitment to sports cars, which is apparent in modern times by the 86, GR 86, and GR Supra. Historic SUVs such as the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Sequoia, RAV4, and Highlander continue to stick around, but Toyota has expanded with new options such as the C-HR, Corolla Cross, and Venza. Cars continue to make up a large portion of Toyota’s lineup, as the Corolla, Camry, and Crown are all a part of the brand’s modern roster.
The introduction of the Prius in 2001 put Toyota on the map as a leader in electrified vehicles, as the model was the first mass-produced hybrid to achieve success. Since its introduction, Toyota has come out with multiple Prius models, including a plug-in hybrid called the Prius Prime. While the Prius has a prominent spot in Toyota’s lineup, the automaker now has hybrid versions of numerous cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, and the Sienna minivan. And thanks to a partnership with Subaru, Toyota introduced its first all-electric vehicle with the bZ4X.
