Toyota Corolla iM Reviews
Offering an alternative to the compact Corolla sedan, the Toyota Corolla iM provides hatchback versatility and a strong list of standard features. Originally introduced as the Scion iM, Toyota incorporated this model into its lineup when the Scion brand was retired. Like its Scion predecessor, the Corolla iM continues to be a strong entry in the small car segment, with good fuel economy, attractive styling and straightforward pricing.
Toyota Corolla iM Overview
Introduced for 2017, the Corolla iM presents compact car shoppers with a slightly different take on the popular Toyota Corolla sedan. It brings in an angular exterior design and a five-door hatchback body style that provides a little additional utility.
Only one engine is offered with the Corolla iM: a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that produces 137 horsepower. Front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission are standard, while an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT) includes a Sport mode and a manual shift mode.
The Corolla iM’s interior features contemporary styling and materials that are appropriate for the class. There’s room for five in its cabin, which includes front sport seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Cargo space is about average for a compact hatchback, with 20.8 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats.
The Corolla iM’s exterior highlights include alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and taillights, projector-beam headlights and power-folding sideview mirrors. Standard interior features include automatic headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and a touch-screen audio system. Electronic stability control, antilock brakes and a rearview camera are among the Corolla iM’s safety features.
A number of great hatchbacks compete in the compact car class, and the Toyota Corolla iM can be cross-shopped with models like the Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte, Mazda3 and Volkswagen Golf. Models like the Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic and Subaru Impreza might also be considered.
