About Ram
Ram is now one of the many automakers under Stellantis’ umbrella. Ram was established in 2010 when FCA separated Dodge’s cars from its pickup trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. To this day, Ram continues to focus on nothing but pickups and work-oriented vans.
Ram’s first vehicles away from Dodge were introduced for the 2011 model year. The automaker’s pickup truck lineup started off with the midsize Dakota and progressed into full-size options such as the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500. In addition to pickup trucks, Ram’s early lineup had a single commercial van with the C/V. The 2014 Ram ProMaster then gave the brand a heavy-duty commercial van, while the introduction of the 2015 ProMaster City helped it expand to commercial users in need of a smaller commercial van.
Besides the C/V and Dakota, all of these vehicles continue to be available in Ram’s modern lineup. In recent times, the automaker has focused on its high-end trim levels that come with powerful engines, luxurious materials, and high-tech features. Off-roading capability has also become one of Ram’s focal points with capable options such as the 1500 TRX, 2500 Rebel, and 2500 Power Wagon.
While competitors such as Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC have beat Ram to the punch with all-electric trucks, the truck manufacturer is working on coming out with the 1500 REV. It will be the first all-electric pickup truck from the brand and is expected to come out for the 2025 model year. The Ram 1500 is also now available with a mild-hybrid system that’s called eTorque for improved fuel economy and performance.
