About Lucid

Lucid Motors was founded in 2007 and was originally called Atieva. Under the Atieva name, the company focused on producing batteries and powertrains for electric vehicles, including for EVs being raced in the Formula E series. In 2016, Atieva was rebranded as Lucid Motors to signify the brand would be branching out to make its own vehicles. The automaker’s first vehicle, the Air, was introduced in 2022. Despite being a startup, Lucid immediately shot to the top of the heap with a maximum range of up to 520 miles. That figure makes the Air the longest-range EV on sale. Part of what makes the Air capable of traveling so far on a single charge is its design. When the electric car came out, it became the world’s most aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of just 0.197. The Air also stands out for its astonishing performance; the Air Sapphire has 1,234 horsepower and can reach 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. In the future, Lucid has plans to expand the Air lineup with more affordable options and introduce a new SUV called the Gravity. The upcoming Gravity is expected to share a lot of the same components and features as the Air, which means shoppers can expect impressive performance and range.
