About Acura
Acura, Honda’s upscale brand, has attempted to carve out a niche in the luxury segment with value-forward vehicles that are enjoyable to drive. The Japanese automaker has introduced high-performance Type S versions of its Integra compact sedan, TLX midsize sedan, midsize MDX SUV, and NSX hybrid sports car as a way to connect with its sporty past. With the second-generation hybrid NSX, Acura was one of the first Japanese automakers to electrify a sports car for added performance.
In 2004, Acura debuted its Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) on the RL. SH-AWD is a system that not only improves traction, but also enhances handling. It does so by distributing power between the front and rear wheels, as well as side to side. The automaker then updated its SH-AWD system with the 2019 RDX.
Starting in 2020, Acura also introduced limited-edition PMC Editions for some of its models that are hand-built at its Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio where the NSX was most recently assembled. In addition to being manufactured by hand, PMC Editions are also finished in ultra high quality paint colors and unique touches.
Acura has been slow to introduce electrified vehicles and currently has none in its lineup since the electrified NSX was discontinued in 2023. The automaker is, however, reviving the ZDX nameplate with an all-electric SUV that’s set to arrive for the 2024 model year.
