2023 Ford Edge Overview

Pros

Lively engines. Many standard features. Spacious cabin.

Cons

Dated cabin design. Subpar visibility.

Expert Review

ByWarren Clarke

The 2023 Ford Edge is a midsize SUV that seats five people. It’s for drivers in need of an SUV with capable performance and ample room for passengers.

Edge buyers can choose from two powertrains. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, and there’s an optional twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that produces 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard, but the V6 is paired with a 7-speed automatic. Every Edge SUV has all-wheel drive (AWD).

The Edge’s powertrains are lively; the base engine delivers quick acceleration in the city and on the highway, while the available V6 — exclusive to the ST trim — steps up the potency significantly. This SUV also has a cabin with two rows of roomy seating that can accommodate passengers in comfort on long and short trips.

The Edge’s extensive selection of standard features also impresses. The list includes a 12-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, dual-zone automatic climate control, and wireless smartphone integration.

There are also a couple of weaknesses to know about. First, the cabin looks dated, especially compared to the modern interiors of its rivals. Also, the Edge’s hefty roof pillars hamper visibility and create blind spots.

Software stinks

I love the car itself, it's just that the infotainment system is not very responsive. When first starting up vehicle it has a tendancy to not display the selected music devise on the screen. THe screen is either white or black and I have to select nav from the menu then go back to USB in order for it to work properly.
