The revamped 2019 Infiniti QX50 sports a more youthful exterior design and the latest safety features. The SUV’s variable-compression engine is one of the most high-tech on the market, capable of switching from being fuel-efficient to performance-oriented with a push of the throttle. The QX50 also is among the most handsome in the segment.
A compact crossover, the 2019 Infiniti QX50 seats five. The vehicle is offered in three trims: Pure, Luxe and Essential. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
The QX50 is all new for 2019.
The 2019 Infiniti QX50 has an athletic design that features hard edges and drastic lines. An enormous grille provides a unique styling cue, and a chiseled hood, slim headlights and an angular front fascia add bold touches. Sharp body lines and a curved roofline contribute to an attractive silhouette.
Standard exterior features include automatic on-off LED headlights, LED brake lights, a panoramic moonroof, aluminum roof rails, an integrated rear spoiler, heated mirrors, a power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers and LED fog lights. An adaptive front lighting system, a motion-activated liftgate and 20-inch wheels are optional.
The cabin of the 2019 QX50 improves significantly over the previous model with more space and high-end touches. Sweeping lines provide a touch of elegance. Comfort also is high up on the crossover’s list, as the front seats provide a copious amount of support for daily driving. Materials are upscale and on par with what competitors offer. With the rear seats in place, the crossover offers 31 cubic feet of cargo capacity. That figure expands to 64 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power windows and power door locks. Optional equipment includes advanced climate control, extended ambient lighting, semi-aniline leather-appointed seats, a heated steering wheel, a memory system for the front seats and climate-controlled front seats.
The 2019 Infiniti QX50 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It’s matched with a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
The QX50 achieves up to an EPA-rated 24/31 mpg city/highway.
The QX50’s high-tech engine provides performance that matches what competitors offer, and it never feels strained. When driving around town, the QX50’s CVT is smooth and refined. During regular driving, the cabin is quiet as the suspension soaks up rough bumps. The QX50 really shines on a windy road, offering superb handling and precise steering.
The QX50 comes with a competitive list of standard technology features that include Infiniti’s InTouch dual-display system, an 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower display, remote keyless entry, voice recognition, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a six-speaker audio system, four USB outlets, three 12-volt power outlets, a HomeLink garage opener and a rearview camera. The SUV also comes with a host of standard driver-assist features, which include predictive forward-collision warning and forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
A head-up display, a 16-speaker Bose audio system with a subwoofer and navigation are optional. Available safety features include ProPilot Assist, which uses multiple sensors, radar and a forward-facing camera to reduce the amount of acceleration, steering and braking input you make while driving in certain conditions, adaptive cruise control, backup collision intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and lane departure prevention.
