      2014 Volkswagen Passat

Passat TDI - LOVE THIS CAR!!!!! purchased this to replace the hybrid that I had for one month which got one mpg more than its gas counterpart. The Passat is no where near its full efficiency break in (60k) but have been averaging consistently over 50 mpg (as high as 56) on highway trips and tank averages of around 43 MPG overall. I own my own company and drive about 30k miles per year so gas comes out of my own pocket. I don't know why there are not more clean diesels around yet. They are AMAZING cars. Having owned over 25 vehicles this is the best by far. It has room comfortably for a family of 5 easily and enough room for supplies for a weeks vacation at the beach. If my experience continues this way, I find it doubtful I would ever change back to a gas vehicle. Have NO hesitation in buying this car. MUCH better option than a hybrid.

      Used Volkswagen Information

Volkswagen (or VW) is the flagship marque of the Volkswagen Group. Founded in 1937, VW is now the second-largest automaker in the world. Three of the company's cars (the Golf, Beetle and Passat) are among the top-ten best-selling cars of all time and all three are still in production. The company launched when Ferdinand Porsche designed what would become the Beetle in the early 1930s. That design was taken to heart and the government-owned Volkswagen ("people's car") was founded.

After World War II, Volkswagen was occupied by the British and when Major Ivan Hirst, who was put in charge of the factory during the occupation, demonstrated one of the cars to the British Army's headquarters, it was adopted as light transport for the Army's forces and an order for 20,000 cars was placed. This saved the factory from dismantling and allows VW to continue living as an automaker.

Most Volkswagen vehicles from before the 1990s are collectibles and aficionado cars rather than common sights on the used car market. Newer cars, however, such as the 1990s and 2000s Golf and New Beetle are common sights on the secondary market.

The Volkswagen Beetle (formerly the New Beetle) is a common sight on the used marketplace and these iconic little cars are popular both for their nostalgic heritage and their fun, unique style.

The VW Golf is a small family car available as a hatchback, wagon or convertible and it is one of the world's best-selling car for a reason.

The Jetta is another small family car form Volkswagen that enjoys a reputation for being reliable in the midsize sedan market. The diesel variant, the TDI, is very popular for its high fuel efficiency.

Like the Jetta, the VW Passat also enjoys a reputation as a reliable family sedan in the large-size market and its TDI version is a best-seller as a diesel option in that segment.

Other vehicles that will be seen on the used car market include the Tiguan and Touareg crossovers as well as the Routan minivan.
