Used Kia Optima Information
This midsize sedan was introduced in 2000 and has been a top-selling Kia vehicle since. Now in its third-generation, the Optima is most well-known for its low cost, contemporary style, and reliability. When the car was redesigned in 2005 to make for a more stylish, global offering, it became a big hit with American consumers looking for a midsize sedan with a value proposition as its focus.
In 2011, the Kia Optima was once again re-designed, this time with the new, more statement-setting design language of Kia. This has met with good result as the 2.0-liter engine and six-speed automatic have proven to be reliable engines and the well-designed interior and good daily drive ergonomics win the car accolades.
There are three trim lines for the Kia Optima, retained throughout most of its lifepsan thus far. The base model is the LX, the upscale model is the EX and the sporty option is the SX model. Safety is always a priority with Kia and the Optima receives high scores from crash testing.
A hybrid-electric version of the Kia Optima was offered in 2011 utilizing the same drive train as the Hyundai Sonata as part of the Hyundai-Kia partnership. The Optima Hybrid set a Guiness World Record for lowest fuel consumption in a hybrid while driving across the United States. The journey began at the car's manufacturing plant in Georgia and went across all 48 states in the continental U.S.
The Kia Optima is also a Pirelli World Challenge entry sponsored by Infinity Audio, winning its first victory in 2012.
The Kia Optima has a robust presence in the used market and is often traded in for a new one, having a high owner retention rate.
