Ford Taurus Information
The fifth best-selling model Ford offers, the Ford Ford Taurus was introduced in 1986. Appearing now in its sixth generation the Taurus has been through 3 Winston Cup victories, one brief discontinuation, and numerous different face lifts, redesigns and updates.
Skipping the first few generations, the fourth generation Taurus debuted in 2000. Ditching the oval design of previous models, this version was squarer and more conservatively styled giving the car more trunk space and added two extra cubic feet. The interior was also overhauled and given a more conventional shape and an "integrated control panel" was installed into the center of the dash to offer easier visual design.
After the brief discontinuation after 2006, the fifth generation Taurus was brought back to the market after Ford realized its âFâ based marketing scheme â Fusion, Focus, and Freestyleâfailed to live up to expectations. So, with a new facelift, and over 500 changes, the Ford Taurus returned in 2008. With a V6 engine and over 203 hp, this version had significant more power than previous generations.
Now, after unveiling at the 2009 Detroit International Show, the Taurus is in its sixth generation. With new features like all wheel drive, cross traffic alert and collision warning, plus a base price tag of only $25,995, this Taurus combines top level amenities with a hard to beat price.
Power locks, mirrors, windows, and steering, cruise control, auxiliary audio input, air conditioning, all-wheel drive, tilt steering wheel, trip computer, dual front and side airbags, panic alarm, ABS brakes, alloy wheels, and four wheel independent suspension.
