Used Ford Edge
The Ford Edge is a midsize crossover that entered the market in 2007, a facelift update in 2011, and a new, second-generation for 2015. The Ford Edge is mirrored in the company's luxury arm as the Lincoln MKX with a more premium interior. The first-generation of the Edge won acclaim for its sporty look, roomy interior, and long list of trim levels and options.
The first-generation had four trim levels, starting with the base level SE, the mid-level SEL, the premium Ford Edge Limited and a Sport trim (debuting in 2009). The SEL trim was the best-selling of the trim levels, though the Sport trim contained many of the same elements plus some technology offered in the Limited trim.
The 2007-2010 models of the Ford Edge were powered by a Duratec 35 V6 outputting 265 bhp. In 2011, the engine was updated to output 285 bhp and two more engine options were added to include a Duratec 37 V6 (305 bhp) and an EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine at 240 bhp. These were all mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The new engine options were offered with the 2011 Ford Edge facelift that changed the look of the crossover to become more in line with Ford's growing lineup of newly-minted cars and crossovers. This styling update was continued with the new 2015 model.
Safety ratings for the Ford Edge in the first-generation were very good. The Edge won Best Cars for Families from AAA and Parents Magazine in 2007, Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Insistute for Highway Safety, a world's 10 Best Engines from Ward for the Duratec 35 V6, and a 2007 APPEAL Award from JD Power and Associates.
