2015 Kia Sorento Overview
Kia's Sorento is a midsize SUV offering standard seating for five and expanded seating for seven when an optional third-row seat is selected. This model offers standard front-wheel drive, available all-wheel drive and four trim levels: LX, EX, SX and SX-L.
All Sorento models come equipped with alloy wheels, heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators and LED rear tail lamps. You also get air conditioning, a tilt and telescopic steering column, and cloth or leather seats.
The 2015 Kia Sorento offers two engine choices: a 191-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6. Both engines come paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and take regular grade gasoline. The Sorento is EPA-rated 20/27 mpg city/highway with the smaller engine. When powered by the V6, this model is rated 18/25 mpg city/highway.
The Sorento EX comes equipped with silver finished roof rails, an available 50/50 split-folding third-row seat, a 115-volt outlet, an 8-way power driver's seat with lumbar support and leather seating surfaces.
Choose the Kia Sorento SX and this model comes with 19-inch alloy machine finished wheels, chrome and steel accents and a three-level steering mode system. You also get a panoramic sunroof with a power shade, rear air conditioning, a navigation system and ventilated front seats.
The Kia Sorento SX-L brings in chrome wheels, xenon HID headlamps and exterior chrome embellishments. A leather and wood steering wheel, Nappa leather trim and second-row heated outboard seats are available.
The cabin is generally roomy, but tight for seven people when the third row is present. Standard cargo space is 36.9 cubic feet behind the second row seat. With three rows of seating, that space is considerably narrowed to just 9.1 cubic feet.
In crashworthiness testing conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2015 Kia Sorento scored top grades in all categories, but received a poor score in small overlap front testing. All Sorento models are outfitted with a suite of air bags, a rollover sensor, front active head rests, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist.
