The 2014 Kia Sorento is a midsize SUV with an available third-row seat. Seating five to seven, this front-wheel drive model is available with all-wheel drive and is sold in EX, LX, SX and SX-L trim levels.
Refreshed for 2014, the Kia Sorento dropped the 2013 model's base four-cylinder engine and added a powerful V6 engine option. The SX-L edition is all-new, providing top-of-the line amenities.
The standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder making 192 horsepower and paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. This model is rated as high as 20/26 mpg city/highway. Also available is a 3.3-liter V6 engine making 290 horsepower and paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is optional in the EX and standard elsewhere. As equipped, V6-powered Sorentos are EPA-rated at 18/25 mpg city/highway. Both models take regular grade gasoline.
The Kia Sorento comes outfitted with 17-, 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels and offers fog lamps across the entire model line. Electric power steering is new for 2014 and the available FlexSteer system allows drivers to choose from three steering modes: Comfort, Normal or Sport. Body-colored heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators and LED tail lamps are standard.
All models come with air conditioning, power accessories, cruise control, Bluetooth, auxiliary and USB audio input jacks, a tilt and telescopic steering column and steering wheel-mounted controls. Wood trim, illuminated vanity mirrors, fabric-trimmed seats and a split-folding second-row seat are included.
The Sorento EX brings in larger wheels, heated side mirrors, fog lamps, front LED positioning lamps, roof rails and a rear spoiler. Push-button start, zoned climate control, a 115-volt power outlet and second-row sunshades are added.
The Sorento SX and SX-L editions bring in such amenities as Xenon HID headlamps, a navigation system, a 10-speaker Infinity audio system, leather and wood trim and stainless sill plates. Cargo room is generous, measuring 36.9 cubic feet, or 72.5 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2014 Kia Sorento with Top Safety Pick recognition. Across the entire model line the Sorento comes equipped with a suite of air bags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, electronic brake distribution and hill start assist.
