2014 Honda Odyssey Overview
The front-wheel drive 2014 Honda Odyssey is a minivan with seating for up to eight. This people mover is prized for its spacious interior room, versatility and technological features. It is sold in LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and Touring Elite trim levels.
Honda continues to provide a strong presence in the dwindling minivan segment. Like its competitors, the Honda Odyssey is designed around the family, as it offers numerous storage compartments, cup holders and a variety of seat configurations.
All models are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine making 248 horsepower. This engine comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Odyssey gets an EPA-estimated 19/28 mpg city/highway. It takes regular grade gasoline. When outfitted with the proper equipment, the Odyssey can pull up to 3,500 pounds.
Standard exterior equipment includes 17-inch steel wheels, all-season tires, sliding side doors and rear privacy glass. Inside, seating for seven is standard with first- and second-row bucket seats and a third-row folding bench seat. This model comes equipped with full power accessories, a tilt and telescopic steering column, cruise control, an eight-way power operated driver's seat, two-zone climate control, a rearview camera and a seven-speaker audio system.
Choose the EX edition and your Honda Pilot acquires alloy wheels, keyless entry with push-button start, heated outside mirrors, three-zone climate control and power lumbar support for the driver. Retractable second-row sunshades, configurable second-row seats, a blind spot camera system and HondaLink smartphone app integration are also included.
Select the EX-L and the amenities list brings in a power liftgate, leather seating surfaces, a chilled storage box and a voice-operated navigation package option. A rear-seat entertainment system is also available.
The top-of-the-line Touring and Touring Elite editions bring in 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights and third-row retractable sunshades. Go with the Touring Elite and you gain xenon headlights, an integrated vacuum cleaner and a 12-speaker audio system. Standard cargo space is a generous 38.4 cubic feet with all seats in use and a voluminous 148.5 cubic feet behind the first row.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2014 Honda Pilot with its highest recognition â Top Safety Pick+ in crashworthiness testing. Beyond its standard suite of air bags, anti-lock brakes and stability and traction control, this model offers forward collision and lane departure warning systems on EX-L and higher trims.
