2013 Dodge Challenger Overview
The 2013 Dodge Challenger is a large, rear-wheel drive coupe. This model offers two engine choices and six trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, SXT Rallye Redline, R/T, R/T Plus and R/T Classic.
Dodge's Challenger offers a 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine as standard equipment with the SXT, SXT Plus and Ralleye Redline editions. A five-speed automatic transmission is paired with this engine. Also available is a 5.7-liter V8 engine making 372 horsepower. It comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic.
With the V6 engine, the 2013 Dodge Challenger is EPA-rated at 18/27 mpg city/highway and takes regular grade gasoline. With the V8 engine and the automatic transmission, this model is rated at 16/25 mpg city/highway and takes midgrade gasoline. When the V8 is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, this model is rated at 15/23 mpg city/highway and takes premium grade gasoline.
All 2013 Challenger editions are equipped with proximity key with push-button start, two 12-volt outlets, automatic climate control and a power-adjustable driver's seat.
Automatic headlamps, fog lamps and illuminated vanity mirrors are added to the SXT Plus edition. The SXT Rallye Redline edition brings in a special red hood, and 20-inch black and red aluminum wheels.
The Challenger R/T edition adds special R/T and HEMI badging, heated side mirrors and a pistol-grip shifter for models with the manual transmission. The RT Plus brings in a HomeLink universal transceiver, heated front seats and Nappa leather trim. The R/T Classic adds Challenger Classic script on the fenders, HID headlamps, black body stripes, larger tires and "Envy" wheels. Trunk space measures 16.2 cubic feet in the Challenger.
The 2013 Dodge Challenger has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for crashworthiness. However, in tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Challenger received an overall 5-star rating, which is NHTSA's highest score. Dodge has equipped the 2013 Challenger with a suite of air bags. In addition, this model comes with brake assist, traction control, stability control and electronic brake-force distribution.
