2006 FORD F-350
I bought a 2006 Ford F350 Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4. I bought this truck to take my family, consisting of my wife and 3 kids in car seats, up to our cabin in northwest Colorado. The last few miles up to the cabin requires 4wd and often requires mud chains if it gets wet. I also haul building materials up to the cabin and will eventually tow a travel trailer. I've had no problems with the truck so far. That being said, if you do a Google search on the 6.0 powerstroke diesel, you will find several hits talking about the known problems with this motor. Based on my experience with this truck and what I've read, you should not be afraid to buy a Ford truck with the 6.0 Powerstroke diesel. You do need to take your time during the purchasing process and, like any other vehicle, find one that has been well maintained. I advise taking the truck into a diesel shop to have it inspected prior to purchase. I purchased a ScanGauge 2 from Amazon for $159 (you can get one for $169 from Bulletproof Diesel with all of the codes pre-programmed). This tool is a fairly inexpensive way to monitor certain areas of the motor. Keeping an eye on the engine oil temperature and engine coolant temperature is critical, due to the design of 6.0's engine oil cooler. It has a tendency to get clogged up on the coolant side and cause a multitude of problems like EGR cooler failure and blown head gaskets. As long as you maintain this engine with quality fluids and filters, and keep an eye out for problems so you can proactively address them, this truck should run for a long time.

if you use your truck for what a truck is built for a one ton is the only way to go. if you use your truck to pull anything heavier than a bass boat, a diesel one ton is the only way to go. the f350 fits this nicely.

Great truck for fun or work. The v-10 has loads of power, but lacking in mileage. Around 10 mpg, but has less maintenance cost than the diesel. It probably works out around equal.

This vehicle was exactly what I was looking for and the price was right in line with what I was looking to pay. The carfax report showed me that the truck had no major issues with it and helped me with making a good decision in purchasing this truck.
