Nissan Z

The Nissan Z is a series of sports cars that debuted in 1970. Since the introduction of the 1970 240Z, there have been six generations of the Z, all with different features, body styles, and performance options. The powerful and responsive V6 engine and nimble handling make the Nissan Z an exciting car to drive, ideal for individuals looking for thrills. This two-seater car has comfortable seating and provides ample room for the driver and passenger. There are many great features that come standard in the Nissan Z, providing a full package to drivers. For consumers looking for a tiny yet fun sports car to drive, the Z is an excellent vehicle to consider.

The first generation of the Nissan Z began production in 1969, and was often referred to as the Fairlady. This first generation went through several changes; the straight six was stroked to displace 2.6 liters while it still inhaled through two SU-style carburetors. The second generation Nissan Z models were also known as the 280Z and featured the same 5-speed manual transmission as the first generation, but that was one of the only things left unchanged. The third generation models featured a new 3.0-liter SOHC V6 that filled the engine bay. This engine generated 160 horsepower normally aspirated and a full 200 when turbocharged. A five-speed manual transmission was standard with either motor, and a new four-speed automatic was optional with both. The 1987 models were more rounded than previous models to help catapult the Z models into an era that embodied a more aerodynamic design.

The fourth generation models were very different from previous generations, spanning over the years from 1990 to 1996, brought about many new amazing redesigns and changes for the model Z cars. The 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo received Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year award, saying: "The 300ZX Turbo has abundant personality, alternately as docile as a well-mannered child and as aggressive as Schwarzenegger in The Terminator, dependent only on throttle position…. It offers the world-class performance of the Porsche 928 S4 and Chevrolet Corvette, but duplicates neither. It doesn't challenge drivers' ability with a hair-trigger, superstar temperament."

The fifth generation models harkened back to the original style of the Z. The Z models of this generation only have seating for two and bestow a six-cylinder engine. The fifth generation 350Z's are powered by a "VQ35DE" 3.5-liter, DOHC, 24-valve V6 that made a thick 287 horsepower at 6,200 rpm.

The 2014 models features Yokohama® ADVAN Sport® high-performance W-rated tires, High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights, Nissan Intelligent Key® with push button ignition, 8-way adjustable driver seat, leather-appointed sport seats with synthetic suede inserts, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

  • The Nissan Intelligent Key offers Push Button Ignition. This allows users to unlock the vehicle's door just by tapping a button on the handle.
  • The NavTraffic option allows drivers to get to their destination on time while bypassing traffic. This system allows touch-screen or voice-activated commands to get real-time traffic advisories.
  • The NavWeather service notifies drivers when there are weather service advisories that could potentially cause slippery roads that could hinder driving. As well as a weather warning, this service also provides a three-day forecast.
