Founded by two motorcycle enthusiasts in 1922, the Swallow Sidecar company made sidecars for motorcycles until 1935, when their first full vehicle, the SS Jaguar appeared (the saloon version of a model line consisting of the SS 90 and SS 100). Eye-catching sports cars became the company's staple once their name had changed following the war, with the still-popular XK and E-Type series making a big splash. Those are now some of the most collectible British motor cars around.During its history, Jaguar has also been associated with film, celebrity, and auto racing. In 1951, 1953, 1956 and 1957, Jaguar won the Le Mans 24 Hours, then, as now, held as the pinnacle of endurance racing.Currently, Jaguar produces several models of sports cars, saloons, and estate vehicles in the XF, XJ, XK and R lines. The new Jaguar F-Type was shown at the 2012 Paris Motor Show as a two-seat sports sloop similar to the legendary E-Type. The car also debuted in North America following the company's first-ever Super Bowl commercial in January of 2014.Awards and notoriety have never been lacking in Jaguar's long history. Most recently, the Jaguar brand was named the best automotive brand in the United Kingdom two-years running in a J.D. Power / What Car? survey. The J.D. Power Best Executive Car award was given to the XF in 2013 as well.
