Model Overview

When the Fusion debuted in 2006, the consumer response exceeded the expectation of Ford by selling 30,000 units in the first quarter. In three short years, the Ford Fusion had become one of the top ten best-sellers in the United States. The Fusion is available in 8 varieties: S, SE, S Hybrid, Hybrid SE, Titanium, Hybrid Titanium, Fusion Energi SE, and Fusion Energi Titanium. With many color options for both the interior and exterior of the car, the Fusion appeals to even the choosiest of drivers. With flashy English-influenced front fascia design and interior upgrades, the Ford Fusion offers a smooth, quiet ride for its size and just might turn heads with its stylish looks.

Current Fusion models offer gasoline, gas-electric hybrid, and a plug-in gas-electric hybrid models as well as six different powertrains. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, illuminated entry, remote keyless entry, AM/FM radio with CD player and MP3 decoder, steering wheel mounted audio controls, four wheel independent suspension, speed-sensing steering, and low tire pressure warning. More recent models have package options such as SYNC Voice-Activated technology with MyFord Touch, BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, active park assist, and forward collision warning. Ambient cabin lighting and LED taillamps are also nice touches. The EcoBoost engine and cloth seats will make you feel like you are got a good value. Hybrid models include a sophisticated design that retains the design qualities of the non-hybrid models—perfect for the eco-conscious driver who wants the look of a sedan without shouting about it. The Fusion, now in its second generation, has an MSRP starting at $21,970 with an EPA-estimated 22 city / 34 highway mpg. 

Ford Fusion Safety Features

The Fusion's saftey features include passenger and driver adjustable head restraints, dual impact airbags, occupant sensing airbags, perimeter approach lights, and traction control. Second generation models include inflatable second-row safety belts, BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, a rear-view camera, lane-keeping system that alerts you in the event you drift from your lane. Finally, it offers forward collision warning that monitors your speed and detects when the traffic ahead of you starts to slow. All of these combined features help make you a better and safer driver on the road.

It received a 5 out of 5 star Overall and Front crash rating from the National Traffic Safety Administration as well as ranking of “Good” for side impact, rear crash protection, and roof strength by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
