<p>The Chevrolet Uplander, Pontiac Montana SV6, Buick Terraza, and Saturn RELAY were introduced in the 2005 model year as replacements for the Chevrolet Venture, Pontiac Montana and Trans Sport, and Oldsmobile Silhouette. (A limited number of Chevrolet Ventures and Pontiac Montanas were produced for the 2005 model year.) The Pontiac Montana SV6 was discontinued after the 2006 model year.</p>
Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. However, the dummy's head bottomed out the airbag and hit the steering wheel. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the B-pillar and roof rail.
High head accelerations occurred when the dummy's head hit both the steering wheel through the airbag and the B-pillar, indicating that head injuries would be possible in a crash of this severity. Injury measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions.

PARKING BRAKE

Description:
|
Certain sport utility vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135, 'Passenger Car Brake Systems.' To meet the standard, the vehicle must not move for five minutes when stopped on a steep hill with the parking brake applied and the vehicle in neutral (N). Some of these vehicles failed this test. When the parking brake is released, the driver may notice unintended braking when accelerating, decelerating, or coasting, and a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Unintended vehicle movement could occur increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect for parking brake lever slippage at each rear brake caliper and replace the caliper if lever slippage is identified. The recall is expected to begin during September 2005. Buick's first-ever minivan, the new Terraza, is a quiet, orderly, handsome family transporter that offers tremendous flexibility in family entertainment with the standard DVD system and the new PhatNoise option. With its conventional folding rear seats, it's not as easy to convert to major cargo hauling as some of its direct competitors, and it doesn't offer a big price advantage over the competition. It doesn't offer side air curtains for the rear compartment. The new Terraza minivan adds a third truck to the Buick product line in four years, joining the Rendezvous and the Rainier. The Terraza is one of four long-nose minivans GM designed to emulate the look and feel of sport utility vehicles and to get a step or two away from the so-called minivan/soccer-mom/suburbia stigma. These four minivans represent a new family built on the old minivan platform, a family that includes the Buick Terraza, Saturn Relay, Chevrolet Uplander, and Pontiac Montana SV6. All built on common chassis, with common powertrains, the same general dimensions, and similar standard and optional equipment offerings, depending on the price class. It's the same, exact strategy as GM used before on the J cars and X cars and W cars. Buick is at the top of the new Gang of Four in terms of price and equipment, and is designed to compete with the Chrysler Town & Country, Mercury Monterey, Toyota Sienna, and Chrysler Pacifica. The Terraza is quiet, benefiting from more sound-deadening measures than the other GM minivans.
