<p>The Dodge and Plymouth Neon were redesigned for the 2000 model year. The Plymouth Neon was dropped after the 2001 model year, and the high-performance Dodge SRT-4 model was added in the 2003 model year. Both the Dodge Neon and SRT-4 were dropped after the 2005 model year.</p>
Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. As the dummy moved into the airbag, it also moved toward the driver door, which had bowed outward, and its head approached but didn't hit the window sill. There was too much rearward movement of the steering column, and during the impact the steering wheel broke off from the column.
Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the left femur indicate that injuries to the upper leg would be likely. Forces on both tibias indicate that injuries to lower legs would be possible.

Vehicle Description: Passenger cars. Vapors from the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system can condense and freeze inside of the throttle body when the vehicle is operated in extremely cold ambient temperatures. This can prevent the throttle from fully returning to idle, which could cause a crash without warning. Dealers will replace and relocate a PCV system tube.

Vehicle Description: Certain passenger vehicles, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 225, ""Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."" Some of the owner's manuals for these vehicles are missing instructions that provide a step-by-step procedure, including diagrams, for properly attaching a child restraint system's tether strap to the tether anchorage. In the event of a crash, the child seat may not be properly attached increasing the risk of injury to the child. Owners will be provided with an addendum to the owner's manuals.

Vehicle Description: Passenger vehicles. In the presence of oil and heat, the brake booster vacuum hose could swell and loosen from the intake manifold. This could cause a loss of power brake assist and an increase in engine idle speed. Dealers will replace the brake booster vacuum hose. Owner notification began July 2, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

While last year's Neon was quick and fun to drive, the all-new 2000 is a much more pleasant companion. It has been improved in every way. It's roomier, smoother, quieter, and more comfortable. The Neon offers a good value, but be sure to look past the base price. Air conditioning, antilock brakes, remote keyless entry, power windows and other conveniences we're beginning to take for granted are all extra-cost options.In short, the Dodge Neon is a top contender among compact cars. It's practical and fun to drive and should be on the shopping list. |

The Dodge Neon offers a solid value among compact sedans. Roomy and fun to drive, it delivers style and performance. The Neon was completely redesigned for model year 2000. This second-generation Neon is far more refined than the first. It's more pleasant to live with than early models, which were initially Spartan, unrefined and noisy. This new, second-generation model moves the Neon up a rung on the compact car food chain. Compared with the previous model, the new Neon is solid, serious and sophisticated.
